Product Overview

The bottom of the CLARIS filter cartridge contains a layer of natural active ingredients which stabilize the water in the reservoir, reducing limescale deposits at the bottom. The system works without energy or additional action: thanks to the natural movement of water in the tank, it constantly passes through the layer of active ingredients. With its activated carbon-based composition, the CLARIS filter cartridge always uses the upflow principle. Through ion exchange, the upper part of the cartridge filters exactly the right amount of water for a perfect cup of coffee.

Thanks to RFID technology, the coffee maker detects the presence of a filter and automatically activates the corresponding mode. It constantly collects information on filter usage and indicates when the filter is exhausted. Filter replacement has never been so easy, and CLARIS Smart+ delivers optimum efficiency.

Suitable for All Tap Waters

With their innovative formula, filter cartridges are suitable for all tap waters worldwide. The highly effective granules filter limescale to a consistently optimum level (even with soft water) and reduce harmful, taste-altering substances such as chlorine better than ever before. Minerals, which play a decisive role as flavor enhancers, are preserved. Optimum limescale stabilization in the water tank and efficient filtration during coffee preparation ensure maximum hygiene and optimum water quality for perfectly flavored coffee.

Automatic Filter Detection

JURA uses modern RFID technology to enable the filter and coffee maker to communicate. Any machine equipped with the Intelligent Water System (I.W.S.®) recognizes the insertion of a filter, automatically switches to filter mode and starts the rinsing process. When the filter capacity is almost exhausted, the device prompts the user to change the filter. If the filter is not changed, the unit switches to descaling mode. After a certain period of use, the user is prompted to descale the unit. This operation can only be carried out with the filter removed, so there is no risk of user error in the event of misunderstanding.

TÜV-Certified Hygiene for Consistently Perfect Coffee

The independent international inspection body TÜV Rheinland has awarded JURA a certificate attesting that its automatic machines are microbiologically impeccable. This certificate, awarded according to extremely strict criteria, demonstrates that JURA's certified cleaning products, precisely matched to the electronically controlled programs, guarantee the TÜV-certified cleanliness and hygiene of all JURA coffee makers.

Limescale: A Source of Breakdowns and a Destroyer of Taste

Limescale is deposited when water is heated. It shrinks the diameter of the pipes, lengthening heating times and increasing electricity consumption, and can even lead to a complete breakdown of the machine. Limescale also affects the taste of coffee. In small quantities, it is an important flavor enhancer. On the other hand, a high limescale content in water gives it an unpleasant aftertaste and prevents the coffee's aromas from developing to their full potential, both as a result of this and of temperature variations.
