This June, we were honoured to join many of Canada&rsquo;s most innovative, respected, and admired retailers at the 2025 Excellence in Retailing Awards (ERA), presented by the Retail Council of Canada (RCC). We were <a href="https://retailawards.ca/finalists/">recognized as finalists in the In-store Experience and Design category</a>&mdash;an acknowledgment that celebrates not only our commitment to retail excellence, but also the remarkable journey behind our latest showroom in Abbotsford.
When we set out to create the Abbotsford showroom, or any of our showrooms, we weren&rsquo;t simply designing a beautiful-looking space&mdash;we were creating an experience for our customers. One that reflects the kind of thoughtful luxury and personal connection that our clients deserve; a place where homeowners, designers, and builders alike could feel inspired, supported, and comfortable.

When searching for our next location, we were drawn to Abbotsford&rsquo;s unique history and shared values&mdash;its appreciation for quality, style, and community reflected our own. With increasing customer demand for premium appliances and exceptional retail experiences, we knew Abbotsford would be A Beautiful Fit for our latest showroom.

<h2>Bringing Our Showroom Vision to Life</h2>
To bring our vision to life, we partnered with the talented team at <a href="https://www.ssdg.com/">SSDG Interiors</a>. From the outset, our design process focused on intentionality&mdash;every material, texture, and layout decision was made with care, preserving the building's architectural integrity while elevating it into a modern, elegant retail space. The showroom features exposed concrete, wood-slat ceilings, and rolled steel framing that pays homage to the region&rsquo;s history, while custom lighting and double-volume ceilings create a bright, inviting environment.
Careful attention was also given to every detail of the customer journey through the showroom. From intuitive layout and wayfinding elements to a centrally located sales podium and flexible lighting systems, each decision was made to ensure a seamless and inspiring visit.
From vision to completion, our latest showroom feels unmistakably Midland: luxurious and welcoming while deeply rooted in the community we serve.

Throughout the showroom, 28 individually designed kitchen vignettes showcase over 600 appliances&mdash;each one highlighting a brand partner we are proud to carry. These interactive spaces were brought to life through months of collaboration between our in-house team, local trade professionals, and brand partners. Every detail&mdash;from finishes to functionality&mdash;was carefully considered to create a hands-on experience where clients can imagine how each appliance fits into their own kitchen and lives.

Like our other showrooms, the Abbotsford showroom is more than a place to shop. It is a place to gather, to share ideas, and to give back to the community. At its heart is a Live Kitchen, a fully functional space designed for connection that has hosted up to 160 visitors at a time. Since opening, we&rsquo;ve welcomed guests for cooking demonstrations, industry events, and charitable gatherings, supporting organizations like <a href="https://www.variety.bc.ca/">Variety &ndash; the Children&rsquo;s Charity of BC</a> and the <a href="https://www.abbotsfordfirefightersassociation.com/cooking-with-fire">Abbotsford Fire Fighters Charitable Society</a>.

As a Premier Partner of the <a href="https://www.semiahmooravens.ca/" target="_blank">Semiahmoo Ravens Minor Hockey Association</a>, we were proud to host their annual Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Night. Held in our Langley showroom, the evening was a heartfelt celebration recognizing the dedicated volunteers and community behind the Raven&rsquo;s success. Guests were treated to an unforgettable live culinary experience, led by industry legend and mentor Chef Bruno Marti and leading chefs representing BC Culinary Arts Foundation. The menu featured choice dishes including Wagyu beef striploin, fresh oysters from Fanny Bay Oysters, and pork belly tostadas&mdash;expertly prepared on DCS Grills and Fisher &amp; Paykel appliances.

Making the night even more memorable was the return of the Ken Dewinetz Memorial Trophy&mdash;lost for several years, the Dewinetz family and the Ravens were thrilled to bring back such a significant memorial award to the association and present it at the event.

For Jaclyn St. Pierre, Senior Manager of Brand &amp; Marketing at Midland Appliance, the event was a great success. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re incredibly grateful for this unique partnership with the Ravens,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s been a pleasure working with Scott and his team to make such a memorable evening for everyone involved.&rdquo; For both, the event was a great opportunity to deepen connections with the broader Ravens community, reaching across Surrey, Delta, Langley, and White Rock.

Scott Ackles, Executive Director of the Semiahmoo Ravens Minor Hockey Association, shared his glowing reactions from the event: &ldquo;The feedback was amazing&mdash;both at the event and afterward through thank you emails. I would bet that volunteers who didn&rsquo;t attend will be lining up for next year!&rdquo; He continued, &ldquo;elevating our volunteer appreciation and awards night experience is a top priority for us, because our volunteers are truly our most valuable asset. Partnering with Midland Appliance&mdash;alongside Chef Marti, the culinary team, and our generous sponsors&mdash;allowed us to deliver something truly memorable. Together, we&rsquo;ve created a win-win-win for our volunteers, Midland, and our partners.&rdquo; 2025 has also been exciting for the association as the Raven&rsquo;s AAA team was invited to the 65th Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament earlier this year&mdash;a legendary event that&rsquo;s welcomed hockey greats like Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Steven Stamkos during their youth. As 2025 continues, Midland is proud to support the association&rsquo;s community and their pursuit of excellence in hockey.
